Catherine Dixon-Shelton is an Oklahoma born writer, speaker, and artist who truly believes her writing and artwork identifies timeframes of transition and triumph in life. She has learned to embrace her talents and utilize her ability to connect with others through writing and poetry, and plans to utilize her story to inspire and motivate. She is a humble individual and utilizes her personal growth as a platform for working with others.
Events throughout her life caused dramatic changes and she grew to accept both positive and negative. For years she fought against her heart’s desire to write and share her story with others. Catherine has now unleashed her spirit and mind and continues to acknowledge the importance of empowering the spirit through self-nurturing and acceptance. Her favorite quote is “I am perfectly imperfect.” She embraces the scars of life while at the same time understanding she is where she needs to be.
Catherine is also a wife, mother, sister and daughter who volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Operation Truth Boot Camp, and Project Upward Bound. She speaks with organizations across the Oklahoma City area and has presented at the Oklahoma State Capitol on behalf Student Support Services (TRiO) and at the Federal Bureau of Prisons for Black History Month. She earned her Associate of Science in Substance Abuse Counseling from Oklahoma State University, and both a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, OK.
Catherine lives in the Oklahoma City area with her family.
